Beautification, Open Space and Tree Advisory (BOSTA) is a collaboration with the city of Ladue. It was established in 2018 by the city council under Bill No. 2183 as a funded program through the Park Maintenance Department.  BOSTA was created to fulfill a requirement for the city to be designated as a Tree City USA, which recognizes cities for “their excellence in urban forestry management.”

The other important aspects are BOSTA’s responsibilities. It helps the city develop plans to manage trees on city and private property: identification, planting, pruning, general care, removal and replacement. The identification process could determine whether a tree is native or not and might discover a tree that would qualify as a Champion tree, leading to a possible tree map of Ladue.

BOSTA will coordinate the efforts of all the groups working on city beautification and it will explore opportunities for development of open space, for example, establishing walking trails or turning the mulch site into a park.
